Open Learning Program

Murmuration will be in residence at The Arts Centre Cootamundra throughout June and July and an integral part of their work is providing access to all people to participate in the arts. They would love for you to connect with them through their open program.

Led by industry professionals, you will develop skills in devised dance and theatre methods, activate new forms of artistic expression, work in a diverse creative environment and have a whole lot of fun doing so. Whether you are new to theatre, have an appreciation for the arts or are a professional artist, there are 3 activities available for you to explore inlcusive arts practice.


A masterclass led by Dan Daw + Sarah-Vyne Vassallo to gain insight into professional inclusive arts processes.  The dynamic duo will lead a series of task-based activities and exercises, which will explore creative strategies and methods to creatively and inclusively engage a diverse range of needs and abilities.

Time: 4:00-8:00pm
The Tin Shed Theatre

Who: Open to arts workers, independent artists, teachers, directors, consultants support workers and venues.

What: The workshop is designed to inspire artistic expression and facilitate constructive conversation. With the aim that the participants can take home practical skills to explore new ways of generating ideas and developing creative material within an inclusive environment. There will be a 30-minute dinner break.

A day of enhancing high school student’s knowledge and understanding of the creative arts by working with professional artists from Murmuration. The day will focus on multiple art form’s exploring ideas from the Days Like These Performance. Participants are encouraged to view the relaxed performance on Saturday 22 July at 2pm.

The Tin Shed Theatre + Gallery

Who: Stage 6 Students studying Dance and/or Drama and/or Student with an interest in dance and drama. Open to students with and with out disability. Open to school or studio teachers to participate in a professional development capacity.

What: A day of enhancing student’s knowledge and understanding of the Preliminary and HSC Dance,  and Drama Outcomes by working with professional artists from Murmuration. The day will focus on the three core components from both courses and will be beneficial for any student studying dance or drama.

– Students participate in a performance class with the artists.
Composition/Making – The artists will lead workshop tasks designed to inspire the students with various ways to generate movement and material for performance.
Appreciation/Critically Studying – Students observe an excerpt form Days Like These sharing of  followed by a question and answer session.

The theatre doors will be open for guests to observe a professional rehearsal with the murmur artists in development. Guests will gain insight into integrated devised-theatre processes and be part of an informal discussion with artists at the end of the rehearsal over lunch.
