Sydney musician Jonathan Vassallo has his fingers in many pies. For the last ten years, he has worn many hats as a writer, performer, storyteller, creative consultant and video director. Jonathan first earned recognition as a vocalist for The Money Go Round, whose anthem ‘Endless Sun’, became the theme for Channel V’s summer campaign, and earned extensive airplay on Triple J, Unearthed.
Jonathan has worked closely with Sydney indie-rock band The Griswolds for several years on their music video productions. The bands ‘Beware The Dog’ single, was recently nominated for Music Video of the Year at the 2015 Rolling Stone Awards. Jonathan was the Director of their latest video single ‘If you wanna stay’. He has also started working with acclaimed local producer Dennis Dowlut who’s been producing prolific material under the Deutsch Duke moniker.
His latest J Motor Film production, as Writer and Director has received national acclaim and featured programming on MTV, a 4-episode music video series in collaboration with Third Floor. He has also written and directed music videos for Reece Mastin, The Money Go Round and upcoming music artist Its Lilly.
Jonathan is also devoted to his own music projects, a sound he defines as “bohemian hip hop” (boho/hip hop). HIs latest single “Jungle Days” aims to raise both awareness and financial assistance for the African elephants as an advocate for Wild Aids, Be Ivory Free pledge. Harnessing his passion for the many disciplines he dabbles in, J Motor’s long-term goal is to constantly create new content and to develop an immersive, muliti-media live show.
Jonathan works in collaboration with his sisters Lauren and Sarah-Vyne on an on-going basis and is a freelance artist with Murmuration.
